Letting go of your ego

The problem that I have of myself, is that I think that I'm "top shit" most of the time. That is, I think that I'm right and I am better than them.

When I am like this, I tend to ignore other people's advice or dismiss their experiences. I will usually give people advice telling what they should do instead.

As a result, I miss their wisdom.

Just recently, my brother told me something that I never knew and took me by surprise. He said that nearly all of the billionaires in the world had mentors. Did you know this?

Look at Bill Gates, the second richest person in the world. I thought he did it all by himself, but apparently he had Warren Buffet as his mentor. Even if you look now, Bill Gates is following his mentor in philanthropy.

If you think about it, it makes sense.

Successful people learn from someone who is better than them. They have made all the mistakes already, so you don't have to. They say that people who had made big mistakes would advance to greater rewards because they learnt from it.

Why not learn from the person who is successful in what you are trying to achieve?
We should be listening to their advice. If your friend is successful at investing in houses, you should follow it. Likewise, if they're successful in relationships - listen to what they say and try to emulate it. The advice from successful people is a treasure that they have given us.

Even people who are not successful, we can learn from their mistakes. Try not to dismiss what they are trying to say, but try to understand them and learn from it.

That is what I need to do. To let go of my ego.

Peace

something from monkey magic

It's not hard to die
Everybody does it sooner or later
What's so hard is to be awake
Life of an ordinary man, spends it in his sleep

It's not like the movies...

Life is not like what you see in the movies or what you see on tv.

People who watch too much television or movies (especially korean drama's) have unrealistic expectations in life. They forget that television or movies are fantasies and are not real.

What they see, they believe will happen. What these fantasies do is give a false hope.

A hope that they will get what they want.

Of course, this is not true (not always). You have to put effort to achieve what you want - but realise that you will not always get it.

And also the problem is that people wish on luck. That luck will help them achieve their hope.

This is a trap. And in the process, clouds their judgement.

Movies, television or stories plays an important role in life. But it shouldn't take you into a path that is unrealistic, fairytale-like expectations - because it's unlikely that it'll happen.

Use your common-sense.

A new movie by Michel Gondry (who made one my favourite films ever - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) called "Be Kind, Rewind", is going to be released soon. It has a quote in the trailer that says , "the best movies, are the ones we make up." And I think that's fucking true!

If you think you know what that means, then I think you know why I think that's true.

Just fucking do it!

The problem that I face with myself is getting things done.
That is, what I plan to do - I don't execute to the end.

How do you know if your strong if you don't give it a try?
You don't know your full potential if you don't give it a try.

I get annoyed to myself afterwards when I missed an opportunity - especially the kind of opportunity that gives a lot of rewards with little risks.

For example, last year, I had lots of opportunity to buy a $200-250k property near my area - where it is known that property is booming now. Now, at the moment, that property is up 50-100k already in one year.

Even little things like going for a walk after a long session of work. If you don't take a break and go for a walk, you feel shit the whole day. But a small break, allows you to stretch your body, have a mental break and it'll might make you happy for the rest of the day.

If you feel the need to do things, just do it. If you made a mistake, just accept it as a mistake, learn from it and just move on.

First Post

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my first post.

This blog is about my journey.
My journey to become strong - strong in mind, body and spirit.
Because I feel weak.

I want to share this journey and my philosophy on how to become a warrior.
